Logan Jesse Free

Logan is a week old today! His entrance into the world was exciting. With all of my other babies, my water broke and then labor proceeded- usually pretty quickly. I also requested drugs...and lots of them...with each of my deliveries. So, last weekend when I was feeling contractions, I chalked it up to Braxton Hicks. I timed them, and nothing was consistent. I was definitely uncomfortable, however, I would not use the words "in pain" to describe how I was feeling. Needless to say, I went about my weekend as normal. Early Monday morning, at 12:15 or so, the contractions started to get really strong and came really fast. There was hardly any time in between them. I told Jon we needed to head up to the hospital and was thinking that I probably had a couple hours before I would deliver. Not so! We into the hospital room at 1:00, the nurse checked me and didn't say anything. She ran out of the room, which didn't make me feel very good. Jon followed her out there to see what was going on, and when they came back I asked how far along I was, and she let me know that I would not be able to get an epidural or any other kind of medication because the baby was coming right then!!!! I was freaking out on the inside. The pain for the last 30 minutes of my labor really was the worst pain I have ever experienced and I didn't think I could do it. It was pretty chaotic at that point. The doctor hadn't shown up....there were nurses everywhere, my water broke and as soon as it did, he came shooting out of the birth canal. I barely pushed because he was coming out so fast. His grand entrance into this world was at 1:07 AM. All I could think was thank goodness we did make it to the hospital!!!!!

So...the question I am asked now is would I do it naturally if I had the chance to do it again. My answer- Yes. While the pain was almost unbearable, my recovery has been amazing. I was up and about within 30 minutes, and I have pretty much been going ever since.

Logan is the sweetest baby. His temperament is so relaxed, which I have been so grateful for. This has been the easiest transition for me. I get up every morning wondering if something is going to change because it's almost too good to be true. The other kids have been wonderful. They love "baby Logan."

In all of the chaos, I forgot my camera of all things. Thank goodness for cell phone cameras! Here are a few pics of Logan at the hospital and a day or two after coming home.
